About Kim Eung Hwa - Korean Dance Academy & Performing Arts School

In 1980, Ms. Eung Hwa Kim founded the Los Angeles Korean Dance Academy. Today, The Academy serves the greater community of its present location, in the heart of Koreatown, as it strives to preserve the art of Korean traditional dance and music. Deeply rooted in its 20-year Korean traditional dance history, the Academy strives to preserve the art of Korean traditional dance and music and actively engages in the promotion of cultural awareness and exchange through performances in non-native venues.

The Academy is under the umbrella of the Los Angeles Performing Arts School, a non-profit institution committed to community enrichment by providing comprehensive training in the performing arts to people of all ages, gender and ethnicity in underprivileged communities of Los Angeles County.

Ms. Eung Hwa Kim is the Founder of the Los Angeles Korean Dance Academy and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Performing Arts School. For the past 20 years, she has been teaching Korean traditional dance, and producing and choreographing major performances in Los Angeles and abroad. Ms. Kim is a disciple of Korean National Treasure No. 27, Ms. Han Young Sook, and has a B.A. in Korean Traditional Dance from Joong-Ang University, Seoul, Korea.

Han Young Sook Dance Preservation Society
Currently, Kim Eung Hwa serves as the Chairperson of Han Young Sook Dance Preservation Society.
All members of this society have studied traditional Korean Dance and they will specialize in studying the dance of Han Young Sook.
